Pastor Gregory A. Formey

Pastor Gregory A. Formey displays distinctive integrity and care in tending to the needs of The Potter's Christian Life Center. His keen insight and responsiveness stem from his uncompromising relationship with the Holy Spirit, bolstered by exceptional academic training.

He draws on skills honed at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. Likewise, he applies Christian education received at Word Alive Bible School, formerly operated by Overcoming by Faith Ministries in Savannah, Georgia. As a full-time staff minister at this dynamic, 3,000-member church, he enhanced his leadership abilities and administrative expertise.
Upon moving to Columbia with his wife, Sandra, and daughter, Jonelle, Pastor Greg brought zeal for the Word and a heart for people that soon stamped his ministry as a haven of salvation, solace, and stability.

One of the hallmarks of his ministry is depth through simplicity—an approach that brings him invitations to minister and consult locally, nationally, and abroad. He shares the gospel of Christ and teaches about building bridges to social reconciliation.

Pastor Greg and Sister Sandra enjoy spending time with their daughter and son-in-law, and three grandsons. And the two are South Carolina Gamecocks Women's Basketball superfans.

Assistant Pastor Maxine Ramsey

Before assuming her present leadership role at The Potter’s Christian Life Center in 2013, Assistant Pastor Maxine Ramsey served the ministry in various capacities. She works diligently to help Pastor Greg fulfill his vision for the ministry.

Fully embracing her role, she plays an integral part in communicating our church's principles and direction. And she provides biblical guidance to people at various levels of challenge. Periodically, that entails assuming preaching duties.

A native of Wildwood, Florida, Pastor Maxine came to Columbia in 1978, to attend Columbia Junior College. She studied business administration there, graduating with an associate degree. Later, she earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Strayer University.
Upon joining our congregation in 1998, she immersed herself in the women’s ministry, which she now leads. Pastor Maxine is a prayer warrior with a compassionate spirit whose Christian walk began in childhood.

She is seasoned in establishing and maintaining rapport with all members, regardless of gender or age. In particular, she has an affinity for serving the weak and cast aside.

Retired after 30 years with UPS, she balances her time between serving The Potter's Christian Life Center and sharing her days with her husband of 42 years, Ricky Ramsey, Sr., their three children, and five grandchildren.
