Listen to an overview from Pastor Formey

Pastor Greg Formey came to us from Savannah, Georgia. It is the place where he met Jesus Christ, married the former Sandra Maynard (twenty-nine years ago), and were blessed with one daughter, Jonelle.  

He gained valuable experience in church leadership and administration under the mentorship of Dr. Ricky R. Temple, Sr., pastor of Overcoming By Faith Ministries of Savannah, a dynamic 3000 member congregation. 

He majored in Psychology at Williams College, Williamstown, Massachusetts, and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1975. 

Pastor Formey earned certification in biblical studies in 1989 from a bible school located at Overcoming Faith, and was a fulltime staff minister at the church. 

Moving to Columbia, South Carolina in 1993, he nurtured a congregation of 23 to the place where it eventually required relocation to larger facilities and two Sunday services for over 340 members. 

The Lord challenged him years ago not to seek to be profound, but to seek to be simple; that the simplicity of his words would be profound in the ears of those who would be called to hear him. 

Pastor Greg delivers a straightforward, uncomplicated message of help, hope, and restoration, and seeks to love and lead the people with God’s heart, being careful to challenge them to produce fruit in everything they are destined to do. 

The imagery of a potter and his intensely personal involvement with the clay strongly moves Pastor Greg in his efforts to strategically serve the people of God.  As with the clay, 

• God's people must be mined, as they are valuable resources to Him.

• God's people must be molded into vessels He can use for His glory.

• God's people must be mended, from wounding and brokenness.

• God's people must be maximized to become all that they can be in the Lord.

• God's people must be multiplied in number to reach others with His life-changing message that they, too, can be formed into vessels of honor.
