An Overview of our Mission & Goals

The Potter's Christian Life Center is committed to the solid core of biblical truth foreshadowed by God through the Old Testament saints, set in place by Jesus Christ, and firmly held by the early church. We are equally certain that the methods of the church must change with the times, as it understands the culture that God has called it to influence. With this philosophy of ministry in mind, we aim to accomplish, among others, these goals:

Clear understanding regarding the Word of God through uncomplicated, balanced teaching. The goal is to provoke thought, and challenge unfruitful attitudes and behaviors, while encouraging devotion to the Lord.

A worship ministry which is celebrative and contemporary, yet respectful of the awesome power of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs of days gone by.

An atmosphere which is fertile for the emergence of leadership. Christians are called to various areas of the body of Christ. A major goal of this church is to assist members in recognizing and pressing toward fulfillment of their potential. A program of leadership training is in on-going process for the purpose of challenging and encouraging those so called.

We are striving to unfold a ministry to children and youth which is sensitive to their needs and circumstances. Our aim is to minister to young people on levels appropriate to their ages. The teaching programs have been developed by trusted authorities in the field of Christian Education.

The Potter's Christian Life Center offers ministry to married persons, singles, men, and women to foster growth appropriate to their needs and life situations.
There is something special that happens when God's people commit themselves to pray for, love, understand, and accept one another. We promote this process through a newly organized system of Prayer Teams. Periodically we schedule events such as group trips, cookouts, sports, and other special times of togetherness.

We reach out to everyone in the Columbia, SC metropolitan area weekly with a radio program called The Potter's House, which can be heard each Sunday afternoon at 1:45pm on Gospel WFMV 95.3 FM. Pastor Greg Formey also has a two-minute daily segment on the same station at 5:58am called "Praying in the Word of God".

As a part of the Lord's local church, we believe that we should be about the business of touching everything that Jesus touches (and He touches everything). It is, therefore, our vision to encourage each other to become involved in different areas of concern in the city; to be givers of salt and light to the world around us.
